Die4Ever@retrolemmy.comOPMtoStarCraft@lemmy.world•RSL playoffs in 12 hours from this post (July 3 to 13)English1·20 hours agoByun vs Cham in 10 hours, herO vs Reynor in 11h30m
Classic vs Clem in 1d10h, SHIN vs Cure in 1d11h30m
Then the playoffs will resume July 10th, 11th, 12th, and finish on the 13th
The name change definitely confused some people, but keep at it!

Die4Ever@retrolemmy.comto Lemmy@lemmy.ml•[Suggestion] Enhance Security by Blocking Logins After Multiple Failed Attempts.English4·1 day agoI believe Lemmy has rate limits for requests by default, so it’s not as easy to brute force a password as you suggest. But something like this is always a good feature for additional security.
I think forcing the user to reset their password because someone is trying to guess their password probably doesn’t make sense unless they got it right. It would be annoying if a troll did this to your account.
Die4Ever@retrolemmy.comto Lemmy@lemmy.ml•[Suggestion] Enhance Security by Blocking Logins After Multiple Failed Attempts.English1·1 day agoYes, but also additional security is good too. And you know it’s impossible to convince everyone to use 2FA, unfortunately.
Die4Ever@retrolemmy.comto PieFed Meta@piefed.social•Lemmy engage with you in meaningful conversationEnglish4·1 day agoI agree that we need fewer posts and more comments.
Sorting your feed by “New Comments” can help, but PieFed doesn’t have that feature, I love using it on Lemmy. It also makes me realize that for comment sorting, it might be good to be able to sort by “Most Replies” or “New Replies”.
will definately check out mbin too
It makes me mad how many people refused to leave Twitter, or even just diversify to posting on other platforms, even if they’re supposed to be left leaning politically…
GamesDoneQuick for example, they always say “trans rights” and yet their only social media account was on Twitter, until they joined Bluesky just 5 months ago and they still post on both. I don’t get it. They could’ve made a Bluesky or Mastodon account years ago, even if they keep posting to Twitter just mirror your posts!
Do it! You’ll probably find like-minded users. Don’t forget PixelFed and Loops too.
Although maybe you could just contribute to Mbin or fork it, cause I feel like it already does all of this?
Even more than per product, it’s generally per category of products. You can run Lemmy, Mbin, or PieFed and get access to the Threadiverse. The devs actually do a good job with the interop when it fits the format of their site.
It doesn’t seem too popular
This is probably why it’s not a focus for developers. If Mbin was some huge success, it would show demand for the feature, and more developers would prioritize it higher.
I really don’t mind having a separate account for Lemmy and Mastodon. It’s not pleasant to force different types of content into different website formats, even if the implementation is “ideal”.
That said, I am surprised Misskey doesn’t allow you to follow @fediverse@lemmy.world as you would follow a user, Mastodon allows this (it’s not as good as viewing inside Lemmy but it does work).
Die4Ever@retrolemmy.comto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Which instance should i choose when i share a link?English1·1 day agobut B is the most right.
C is most correct canonical URL actually. See the HTML at the bottom of this screenshot
Die4Ever@retrolemmy.comto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Which instance should i choose when i share a link?English4·1 day agoMore confirmation that C is the canonical URL. Check the <head> section in the HTML (bottom of the screenshot)
Remember that posts belong to users, the community only does a retweet/boost of the post.
More info: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/1418
This is why it’s the link provided by the fediverse icon on Lemmy, and the “View original on…” link in PieFed. On Mbin it’s the “Open/Copy original URL”
Die4Ever@retrolemmy.comto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Which instance should i choose when i share a link?English1·1 day agoI don’t think there’s a quick way to get link B, but C is literally called the canonical URL. Check the <head> section in the HTML (bottom of the screenshot)

Die4Ever@retrolemmy.comto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Which instance should i choose when i share a link?English9·2 days agouse the fediverse icon to get the canonical link to a post (which is option C in your list), you can right click it to copy the link
on piefed.social it’s in the overflow menu:
on Lemmy it’s just the icon
although sometimes I do not grab the canonical link, like if the instance is slow or has poor downtime, I’ll use link A or B from your list
(someone should maybe add this info to the Lemmy docs https://join-lemmy.org/docs/introduction.html idk if piefed has similar docs)
