    I always liked to point this out when poor people protest taxes for the very rich.

    “What if I become a billionaire some day?? Better safe than sorry.”
    … the safe being their dead end job, zero life prospects & worsening quality of life, amassing other life problems, looming homelessness, etc,
    and the sorry being the unlikely event they wound have to lose a fraction of their obscene wealth for the better of other humans.

    Paulo Coehlo writes stories about how if you commit hard enough to your dreams they will come true.

    He’s part of the problem and got rich selling the American dream that you can do anything if you just put your mind to it.
