Depends on what you mean by really. They’ve been confirmed for the Ukrainian military enough to be confident enough to add them to the numbers.
They were not confirmed yesterday, and therefore not included, This morning when the days numbers were released only 12 were confirmed, but now all 41 that were supposed to have been hit, have the needed confirmation to be on the list.
The confirmation is most likely satellite images.
Well I hope so. I hope it’s not only about the planes burning a little, but about them never being operational again.
It’s very hard to get an airplane airworthy again after a fire.
I believe the 12-16 number of damaged aircraft was from independent verifiers using satellite images.
Reports say the US military is estimating 16 damaged or destroyed aircraft so far, possibly up to 20+ depending on confirmation from more satellite images and other intelligence sources.
Then again, similar to their vehicle storage facilities, many of the parked aircraft at Russian airbases are rusting hulks being cannibalized for spare parts.
Hopefully the UAF knew which ones were airworthy and damaged the aircraft that were actually capable of flying.
These updated numbers are the official numbers published by the Ukrainian military general staff.
