I’m really curious how the Mastodon community will react to this development. Their biggest objective to Bluesky was the fact that there’s only one “instance.” With this, in combined with Northsky Social, it may soon be possible to be on Bluesky while being completely unreliant on Bluesky’s infrastructure.

needs to be replaced with a method of decentralized identifiers that’s actually replaced. Then, a significant number of users would need to migrate off of Bluesky’s infrastructure.At that point, we can describe Bluesky as decentralized or federated without caveats.
Interesting, is there any information on how much the Spark Social infrastructure is going to cost?
There’s no details about that yet. I did some cursory research and found that Spark Social is a public benefit corporation, like Bluesky.
