I know he was a letdown due to not doing electoral reform but he went out on a high note. I’m gonna miss not having a thirst trap PM.

I don’t know who I am anymore. For years, hating Justin Trudeau wasn’t just a pastime—it was my identity, my purpose, the fuel that kept me going. Every scandal, every policy, every smug press conference gave me something to rally against, something to sharpen my arguments and justify my frustration. And now? Now he’s gone, and I’m adrift in a world that suddenly feels empty. Who am I without the daily outrage, without the certainty that everything wrong in Canada could be traced back to him? I spent so long defining myself by my opposition to Trudeau that I never stopped to think about what came next. Now that he’s out, I feel as lost as a ship with no lighthouse—no villain to fight, no cause to cling to, just an unsettling silence where my rage used to be.

You have been a victim of weaponized disinformation.

Justin was just the face of a craven centrist party who leans whatever way the public will vote them in for. He just was a popular and somewhat irreverent and surprising figure and he caught fire with voters, and then when the Liberals did the same shit they always did but just with his sunny presence stamped on it, the disinformation trolls led you to believe he was the person responsible for all of that. When he’s only a part of it really, and a massive engine drives everything the party does, funded by deep pocketed people who control everything in truth, and also on the other side pay the people who feed you disinformation from the conservatives with their cringe little commercials and big talk every time Trudeau and the party misstepped. A lot of people held their nose and voted for him because they don’t want the conservatives, and I’ll hold my nose and do it for Carney too, but I’m sick to death of old white men.

I really recommend you learn what disinformation is before you decide on any other beliefs. Here is a primer. https://www.cna.org/reports/2021/10/psychology-of-disinformation-key-psychological-mechanisms

Shilling for the American military’s right wing hawks is beneath most. It’s where the term “Ugly American” originates. CNA is a toxic mix of jingoism and pseudo-intellectual screeds. Using CNA diatribes as reference material is worst than dishonest.

        It’s lazy.

How do you measure things in feet? Everyone’s feet are different sizes, that doesn’t seem like a reproducible way to make anything.

Easy, since Henry the VIII the foot was defined as 12 in. What’s an inch you ask? Well an inch is 3 barleycorns placed side by side. Which 3 barleycorns? That doesn’t matter it’s close enough.

That’s weirdly ignorant but that’s ok, everyone can learn something new. ’ is shorthand for foot, which was a historical unit used in various forms for several thousand years.

Since 1959, the foot has been an SI-derived unit, being pegged to precisely 0.3048 meters thanks to the Commonwealth of nations, including Canada, agreeing with the united states to set the value as a metric unit as part of both nations’ slow but steady moves towards the metric system.

There’s some websites that can set you up but I’m not sure Lemmy is one

Unless you’re looking for a more… anonymous style of interaction.

Edit: apparently I’m wrong, several Lemmy users seem to be offering 🍆

Not sure what unit of measurement this is, but most reports list his height as ~186cm

This sub is for Canada, where every unit of measuring length is based on the meter!

Actually the US is pretty heavily metric. There just isn’t much purpose to making everyone change millions of road signs and millions of cars so they match.

The comment asking what a foot is, was building off the joke in the post image which was asking what a mile is, which itself is a reference to an American line https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/what-the-fuck-is-a-kilometer

What The Fuck Is A Kilometer, also known as WTF Is A Kilometer, refers to an American catchphrase that is satirically patriotic by being aggressively ignorant of the metric system. This is because the United States doesn’t use the metric system (kilometers) and instead uses the imperial system (miles). The phrase’s first usage was in a moldy meme featuring George Washington with a bald eagle and a giant firearm.

Only it started as being satire, but now it’s also used by some people trying to be patriotic

We got two Trudeaus and two invocations of the War Measures/Emergencies Act but only one Metrication commission.

We need a second Metrication Commission to finish Metrication.
