I am trying to move away from US tech for ages actually and last year i transitioned from Google photos to ente. I am very happy with them but now i was checking if they are based in US.
I can’t seem to figure it out. They have their corporate postal addresses in US, but also addresses in Netherlands and Finland. Also it seems that they are based thought the world and do remote work so I ma at a dilemma between accepting them as they are or having to find an alternative to them
Edit: update from Ente, and a blog post they made when they registered in the US. TLDR: they actually wanted to register in EU, but as they are fully remotely operated, EU was not able to allow for a company without a physical presence to register in any of its countries (besides Estonia). There were workarounds and hacks, to achieve this but they were not willing to use “hacks”. It was more straight forward creating a Delaware C corporation instead. My personal motivation is to stop buying US products and services. BuyEU is a tool for this
