The first three don’t say anything about eating the banana.
I agree. They very likely mean “You could / must / must not peel a banana”
It’s the same issue as with traffic signs with cars. They appear static so we should add zoom effect to suggest some action taking place. It would make traffic signs much more cool.
Most street signs are not really meant to portrait explicit meaning. They are symbolic, more like hieroglyphs. That’s why you need to study and memorize them before getting your driving license. Not to mention they need to be simple enough to be vizible atba distance and while moving. So no, you’re not allowed to have cool signs. Simple is cool.
Animated traffic signs may legit be very cool and if done properly aid to safety.
How could that aid safety?
Movement is more noticeable and can convey more information.
It has to be done right though. It must be noticeable but not distracting. Extra information needs to be balanced with keeping it simple to understand.
So also make it that you can get all important information by looking for a split second on it?
Ideally, or the most important information first and additional information if you look longer.
Arrows animated in to the direction they are pointing comes to mind as a straightforward example but also thinking about general use smart signs to show flow directions at complex junctions.
I live in a place that has way too many signs all around so I shiver at the thought of adding even more noise to that.
Dont get me wrong. I am talking very specifically about signs that aid in public situational awareness and in my head in a non intrusive intuitive way.
I am light sensitive and most current day way to bright street lights can go to hell. advertisement as a concept is an arch nemesis of mine. And agree oversaturated information in traffic is absolutely no good. Environmental information should target your subconscious more than your conscious person.
Oh, I misunderstood. We have this kind animated signalling on express roads for maintenance work or emergencies in Poland - isn’t that also common elsewhere?
