Hey everyone, I just migrated from Reddit so I have a question: who’s actually here using this, and where do you cook?
I’m currently at a hospital in the states, and it’s the best cooking gig I could have asked for.
Decent pay, consistent schedule, the best benefits ever, (most of us cooks have to cash out PTO because we accumulate so much), and some of the easiest shifts I’ve worked.
Super same. I miss having a job where I could commit to a full volume Gollum impression for an entire hour and nobody would bat an eye, and the boss would come over and do a better one if he heard you.
I miss the creative violence of language, the impropriety, being among the dirty people who scream in the walk-in. The terrible music, the rough camaraderie, the thrumming full-body sensation of being completely exhausted after a long shift.
I don’t think I could do it again, I’m slower than ever and it was always my weak point. But I do miss it. I guess I should answer OP’s question: I cook at home, every meal for the family, every day.
