I was surprised to see this one shoot up to the top of trending videos on PeerTube, it’s probably of interest to people here.

    Thanks, I was going to post it myself but hadn’t got around to it.

    Unfortunately, most of the traffic in the first day came, not from peertube native browsing/discovery, but rather from the various places I posted it on reddit.

    Maybe one day peertube will have a big enough audience and strong enough discovery method to generate that level of views, but until then I believe it will have to rely on external links.

      Some video creators have solid communities via Mastodon, but yeah, even with the growth of !peertube@lemmy.world - I’ve seen video views go up for sure, but still not a lot of people doing any interacting.

      Funnily enough, that makes PeerTube interesting, because it by now actually has a solid community of decent creators, but a lot of them are basically talking to the void, because there is no one there interacting with their videos.

      So, PSA moment for people reading: Join PeerTube! It’s not really more complicated than Lemmy, and it has some great creators already, that will be genuinely elated with any and all people leaving likes, comments or people watching their live streams talking in chat.
