Did you hear about the hero in the British government who did amazing work in winning a war the British viewed as existential, but killed himself over charges of “criminal” homosexuality? What? No not Alan Turing. You mean it happened twice? The other guy.

If it was just a “I am over 18” button, I don’t think pornhub would pull out(pun unintended). It’s easy to bypass with a VPN or tor, but are you going to pull that out just to doom scroll for a hate fix? Maybe, but that’s a choice a lot of people are going to have to make.

It’s selfish to not right crime with it. With great power comes great responsibility.
TooManyFoods@lemmy.worldtoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•So you don't have a doctor's note?English7·9 days agoWell it’s not the airline’s responsibility if it’s not their responsibility is my point. If it’s her responsibility to inform them how along she is, then it’s her who is responsible. If it’s murder it’s her doing it. 2 I mean as long as it checks all the proper boxes they’ll do it to any of us, they just call it an execution. Even if they are able to prove the box was checked wrongly later. 3 people sign off on danger for their kids all the time. Is elevated danger murder? Is airline travel so dangerous it’s guaranteed to kill the kid? Plenty of lines here that shouldn’t get a “So mUrDEr iS oK?” Reaction.

TooManyFoods@lemmy.worldto Politics@sh.itjust.works•DHS quietly removes list of targeted Sanctuary cities just days after launchEnglish5·10 days agoThe theory I heard for some of this is: if you remember a few years ago some of them called themselves “second amendment sanctuary cities” to lampoon others etc etc. One guy who was part of that said that he thought maybe they used ai somehow and there’s no way ai would understand the nuance that they meant.
I’d say this can hurt them, but only a little. These are locales that will always vote for him, but being accused of being the thing that they hate will be a little annoying. Also why use ai if they indeed did? Are they stupid? Yes, but they’ve been able to get humans to do things for years. They’ve already grown lazy and reliant on the new hotness?
TooManyFoods@lemmy.worldto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL: The Korean War was Actually a Genocide Committed By the United States in order to “Contain Communism”English111·11 days agoAm I bringing another country into it? I think if you want the US to be the Nazis here, then I think what you want to argue that it’s like this brings up the Nazis invading Poland, and I mention Poland. But it’s not really. It’s like if you brought up polish war crimes against germany(theoretical, I’ll acknowledge unlike those the US war crimes are real) and I said Germany started it, now you want to know why I brought up Germany.
Edit: still not a great analogy. I hate analogies. More like saying WW2 was just US war crimes on Germany, I mention Germany started it by invading another Germany (because it’s not really WW2), and you ask why I bring up Germany.
