Cherry@piefed.socialto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Well, today I had a fit of nostalgia for the old Internet without algorithms and moderation and I want to ask you, do you remember this?English3·2 days agoGrainy vids and bad audio, I’d rather have that authentic effort than the highly polished regurgitated bulsheet narrated with a YouTube voice we see now.
Cherry@piefed.socialto Europe@feddit.org•Europeans would swap planes for trains... if they couldEnglish9·3 days agoKinda agree. Good when smooth, but when bad it’s bad.
I once booked a train months in advance. Got there and the train got cancelled. No notice just not there. I waited in queue for 30 mins. Person told me catch the next one in 1 hour.
I did. The conductor on the train came along and threaten to throw us off as it was not the correct ticket. There was just no rational option.
Otherwise I love the train.

But just as it’s not a woman’s job to teach men emotional skills, it’s not a gay persons either.
Others can’t keep carrying the burden for this.
Cherry@piefed.socialto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What product or service do you use less as a result of their marketing?English18·5 days agoIf I see something advertised or pushed by them i immediately question the integrity of the product. I can’t trust them or the brand.

Cherry@piefed.socialto Tech@programming.dev•AI is killing the web. Can anything save it?English16·5 days agoAh cooked the golden goose and now complaining. It’s as bad as cinemas/Hollywood, they got greedy took advantage and when people moved away wondered why. Make a product people like and they will use it. They don’t care they are losing viewers. They care they arnt making money.
Cherry@piefed.socialto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•I dont want to enter a contract when consuming your product..English7·6 days agoVital proteins take themselves a bit serious. I’d send it back. Terms and conditions my @$$.
Idiot behavior from self important companies should not be rewarded.
Anyone know of any dedicated communities on here or good resources (uk) for day to day frugality or at least less giving money to millionaires?
I used to use the likes of hot deals etc but it’s now just a glorified sales platform. I am talking actual communities that share suggestions and support.

you dont get a ban for the first instance. This shows repeated offences. Lucky she has the money for a driver.
I have little patience for serial speeders. Gripe all you like, but speed limits save lives.

I am pretty decent at the no spending. Have been for a few years. I hate waste and consuming crap for the sake of it.
I do need to go back to basics. I still need to purchase and live somewhat conveniently, as I have a family. Some stuff that’s worked for me. Bulk buying once a year. Anything non perishable toilet roll, soap powder etc. I buy a years work and shove it in the garage. Agin bulk with items like salt, vinegar, oil. I then decant to smaller bottles. There are lots of sauces I can make myself. I am good at using what’s about for salad dressings. Use leftovers. I really enjoy them anyway.
There are more, I just can’t think. It’s still buying but buying less and smarter is my start.
Any other ideas that anyone can think of?
So how do we start rallying against this? Any ideas? I am trying to spend less and also choose less convenience products. Additionally I choose bargain shops, B&M even Aldi etc where I can. It’s not a big step but it’s a message.
What other options or actions can we undertake to start tackling this greedy behaviour?
Cherry@piefed.socialto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•What is this shit? I have to be signed in to watch any video now?English12·8 days agoIf you don’t like YouTube with ads then simply don’t use it. Your life can exist without it.
You’re on a community chat board, people comment. Do you really have to be so grouchy? At least I am here part of the conversation. If you wanna be angry point it at YouTube/google etc not randoms on the internet. I can be cynical but it’s lesser than other things I could be.
Cherry@piefed.socialto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•What is this shit? I have to be signed in to watch any video now?English16·9 days agoThen sign in and watch them. 😀
Cherry@piefed.socialto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•What is this shit? I have to be signed in to watch any video now?English311·9 days agoThe nice channels, those days are gone. The internet we knew has been destroyed or will be diminished to an annoying shadow pretty soon. If you had to put a % on what is now monitized or stripped for data what would it be?
Cherry@piefed.socialto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•What is this shit? I have to be signed in to watch any video now?English1·9 days agoOur world is so fast now, I spent years chasing it and forgot the peaceful joy that comes with slow and practical. I do miss my old CD player. Might mooch around for a second hand one as I miss exactly what you just described.

Elon just showed the world what we all knew. The tool is not trustworthy. All other AI suppliers are busy trying to work on credibility that grok just butchered.
Yup. I can see it in my head now. Always had a square header with random images squished in.
