I just want to remind anyone thinking that this is a good thing because it will siphon off voters from the Republican Party - Elon Musk is only doing this because Trump cut the EV mandate from the Big Bullshit Bill and didn’t appoint his guy to NASA. No matter what he says about spending or debt ceilings, he doesn’t care about any of it and was in the loop the entire time that legislation was being crafted. He’s still only in this for himself, just as he was when he gleefully threw a Nazi salute on stage thinking he just got everything he could ever want when he bought the president his office.

The polling numbers after the election were horrifying. GenZ are like the Hitler Youth of today. Not just voting Trump because their parents were Republicans and influenced their political outlook, but enthusiastically embracing Trump because of memes and TikTok, not actually considering the consequences carefully.

It’s shameful, because even though most GenZ kids were not old enough to vote, they were almost old enough to vote back in 2016 when Trump took office the first time. It’s not like they are looking back at the early years of politics from their childhood fondly, they were definitely old enough to be able to see how destructive he was.

Why not? Trump just deployed them to LA and got away with it. He could do it again. The courts have proven about a dozen times since the election that they will not hold him accountable for blatant constitutional violations. It’s always interesting to hear what animated character was somebody else’s furry awakening. You can make an argument to say that there was racist gatekeeping back when Obama was running, and that was absolutely true, but we never actually had a situation where a political party fronted a black man and lost. We actually do have data that shows that America rejected a female presidential candidate twice. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that America simply isn’t socially developed enough to be capable of looking past the misogyny and we should take that into consideration if our goal is to win.

This is the realistic take. Racism is bad enough in this country that we just barely squeaked Obama into office as a half-black man. Misogyny is way more widespread. Spend about 5 minutes in an online game chat room and you’ll see what I mean. Not to mention the manosphere/blackpilling are actually growing movements rather than shrinking.

I think AOC is great and that she would make a fine administrator, but let’s keep her in congress for now where she can still do a lot of good for the progressive cause. There’s no need to put someone who the right has spent years building up as the antichrist boogeyman as the frontrunner when we already have a poor track record of prominent female politicians losing the presidential race to the most embarrassingly unqualified candidate in American history.

So true. What we are experiencing now is the “new normal”, and electing Joe Biden proved that we can’t restore sanity just by voting a democrat in office. Every time we get a conservative from now on, we should expect more of this wacky Trumpian bullshit, even if Trump isn’t at the helm.

There are, as you said, only two way of actually fixing the problem. All-out civil war, which nobody really wants and may not culminate in actually winning, or untethering ourselves from the minority party currently running the failed state by seceding, preferably peacefully. That presents it’s own unique challenges and problems, but it’s by far a better solution than continuing to course correct the sinking ship like we are now. We will only drown with the captain and his crew of morons who intend to go down with the ship.

Anybody who has ever been unfortunate enough to have to apply for any of these healthcare or food stipend programs would know that it’s not as easy as the government makes it seem. In fact, the amount of bureaucracy, means testing, and highly restrictive income limitations means that most people don’t qualify period and people who do qualify have to spend an inordinate amount of time waiting to hear back from the government to know if they have been accepted or not, all the while hoping and praying they don’t get sick and can manage their money long enough to continue feeding themselves.

Case in point, my fiance is out of work right now and actively seeking work. She applied for both MediCAL and SNAP and was denied for MediCAL because she had earned too much already that year to qualify and the SNAP benefits totaled out to $20/month in food stamps, based on historical income, which is insufficient even for the most frugal of individuals to make work. This is for someone currently earning $0/month and being almost entirely supported by me.

After a certain point, it becomes a massive drain on your time and resources that could be spent looking for a job, so you stop bothering with the system altogether because who wants to spend hours doing paperwork and submitting claims just to get enough spare change to buy a bulk bag of rice to feed yourself a struggle meal?

I don’t want to hear shit about “handouts” from anybody. My fiance paid her taxes faithfully for years without ever having to rely on the program, so where are her benefits? She has undoubtedly paid more into the system than she will ever extract.

So what are they going to do if someone fires back with this? Deny their visa because they didn’t agree to be spied on by a few of the worst companies on planet fucking earth? Is the government going to be able to somehow make me prove that I don’t have social media?
