First of all, that’s not their only install option as far as I can tell. I can see an incantation which automatically pulls and installs it, and I see a step-by-step make build instruction set.

Both of which can be relatively easily googled because they’re both only 3 commands. And, if you’re on a Linux machine that means you probably have access to the man pages for make, mv and cd.

  • If you’re installing something without understanding the command behind it then you’re doing something wrong. You wouldn’t download and install a random .exe, so stop running random wget | sudo bash commands.

I actually think a lot of people put the same or more effort into Windows, they just don’t realize it because it’s what they’re used to. You would verify the install instructions on Windows. If you wouldn’t, then you probably should be on something atomic rather than windows or a normal Linux distro.

  • I used to get into arguments about the “cowards” thing. Like yeah, they forfeit a time or two and lost a few fights. So have most countries, whether they let you know about it or not.

They have also been a global super power for at least as long as America has existed, or longer, depending on what you consider to be a super power. So yeah, they brushed up against a couple of rough patches in that time lol

  • I’m not that into the idea, and the simulation kind of ruins what I’m after anyway. I want to feel it when I get a good/bad shift and I want it to matter.

Sure, you can simulate the engine rumbling and the gears grinding. You can even rock the boat a bit with some hydraulics. When I shift “wrong” you can make me feel it for sure. But when I shift right, it’s not just smooth so that you can’t feel it. It’s smooth so that you can feel it ya know? (Okay maybe it wasn’t that smooth and what you’re really feeling is a slight clutch dump but wasn’t it fun)

  • This is going to sound a little stupid, but in a scenario like that I like to try to blend in with ultra-capitalists. As it turns out, really positive socialism/communism (just sharing in general basically) is pretty much the best way to do capitalism anyway.

Basically, I excel. That’s what I’m doing at my current job. Getting qualified in 2 weeks instead of 6 months, doing extra work etc etc. right. Then, once you’ve established yourself as being someone “worth” listening to in the eyes of your capitalist bosses/coworkers, you just start relentlessly defending people. For example, they wanted to fire one of my coworkers for calling out too often so I basically sandbagged for a shift and then talked to my lead about how I just felt really shitty all day about her situation and they talked to HR for her.

After a while, people will start to think of you not only as a great worker, but as an advocate for them. They will look to you for guidance. They will listen to your opinions. You may not gain authority, but influence can be just as powerful
