Weirdly, I really like mods in already NSFW games:
Strive4Power and it’s sequel/remake, Strive Conquest have mods that experiment with the gameplay quite a bit.
I played around with writing mods for Portals of Phereon for a bit to try out some changes to the game to better fit my interests.
I get the concern with mods being complicated to install, depending on the game & it’s engine, it can be difficult to keep compatibility with either new versions if the game, or with other mods.
Rimworld has a pretty interesting modding scene.
