As a Canadian I don’t believe my vote will do anything, but I still do it. Partly to reduce people complaining, but also that if my vote does have an effect it’s very likely I cannot measure it.

Omfg, this again… There is a much simpler solution than getting your constituents to bonk more. The west figured this out ages ago. Hire migrants. Although the west seems to have forgotten how much more productive and law abiding 1st (and 2nd?) gen immigrants are. I’ll share the experience I had at my Canadian citizenship ceremony.

The neoliberal – at the time – mask on fascists were patting themselves on the backs so hard over letting nonwhites into the country. They had us swear allegiance to the royal family, and you don’t really have a choice, cause you need that citizenship. That’s what all the bullshit Canadian beauracracy is for. I was so angry about forcibly pledging allegiance to some violently inbred family across the ocean. That we are expected to “assimilate”. The part they’re not saying about this is that Canada will still try to erase minorities’ culture, and obviously do it so cause they think western society is far superior to others. Yes, we get it. Your ancestors repurposed black powder to create guns for you to shoot at everyone and everything.

“Might makes right” believing people, I’m of the opposite view. The only thing that makes one society or culture superior to another is if one of them is claiming to be superior based on who murders best. Colonialist westerners insist they’re number 1 in everything, but if they were, they wouldn’t need to bomb other countries until the USA just gets first place by default. Though I wouldn’t be surprised to see the USA bombing its citizens for the thousands time.

I’m sorry, Americans, but now you get the African Apathy treatment (at least from me). I might have cared about Americans, but that was 50,000 dead Palestinian kids ago. I’d have cared about political violence in western countries, but then I found out the World Bank and International Monetary fund are STILL screwing countries over with mafia like practices. This is where a fascist, or fascist enabler aka a liberal, would spout the virtues of their non existent democracy and “superior” culture, as they wrote off another 100,000 bombs to drop on Lebanese people’s fighter jets they hide in their garages, without exception.

All of this is not to say who deserves X or Y, or whatever, or that the majority of Americans will suffer or not. This is to say I’m desensitized towards people’s suffering in the USA in the same way an American would be apathetic to suffering in the global south. Not the racism part. I have only material conditions in mind.
