  • FAA also have a problem with its ATC branch. Basically they lack fund, workers are overworked, overstressed, tired and procedures are not always safe (visual app for liners, not strong enough phraseology).

This will lead to more deaths and no, it will not have to do with the skin color or sexual preferences of the ATCO.

(+ FAA had a problem as a regulator, see what happened with Boeing)

  • Convince people that we are stronger together and that we need to vote against politics that are against EU and pro nationalists.

I mean, I’ve heard people in France telling me they don’t want to put money in the army to fight for Ukraine because they are not concerned. Or saying they don’t want to share the nuclear umbrella with the rest of Europe. Or whatever shit about “my country first, Europe/EU last”.

  • Fun story, my family is from Verona. One time I met an Italian at work and told him that I’m probably romantic cause my family is from Romeo & Juliet city.

He said: “Ah, I’ve seen it on TV, huge skyscrapers, helicopters flying everywhere, people shooting gun and talking strangely, the place sucks!”

He was off course joking, talking about the film Romeo + Juliet, with Di Caprio and happening in the very US setting of Verona beach. But I liked the joke.

  • They do not, but they have a bike support for their watches, and a huge plus for them is that their platform is available via webpage, not only on an app. And they are compatible with the Finnish app in the other comment. Thanks I really like what they do, this might be the sports tracker I was looking for.

Sigma is German and makes bikes computer

  • It’s only half a joke. Until Europe creates something unified it remains true.

For a time France was considering a “Cultural tax” to fight against torrenting etc. The idea was to pay a fixed fee like 10 or 15€ a month that gave you access to everything in legal streaming. It would have been perfect and people would have pay for it instead of illegally downloading.

Then Netflix came and took that market, then all others mega corporations wanted their share of the money and streaming went to shit and sent us back to the initial issue.

The problem today is that even if we had such a general platform, plenty of right owners would refuse it to favor their own network platform.

  • For AA category I’ll add the series “A Plague Tale

Innocence is a bit rough gameplay wise, Requiem improve that part a lot. Both are incredible story. If you want a bit of French touch in the Artsy way of storytelling this is it.

Beware: Ending those game might make you cry and be sad for weeks

Asobo is French, based in Bordeaux, yes like the wine. They are friend with Microsoft because of their history and MS loves their tech competences, that’s why you can see them on projects like Flight Simulator.

Still in the A or AA department, Stray is well known and its Sci-Fi universe is marvelous, you have to take your time and just look at every little details. The devs are from Montpellier (the French city of streaming) and their official presentation says :

BlueTwelve Studio est un studio de développement de jeux vidéo créé par Koola & Viv composé principalement de chats et d’une poignée d’humains.

BlueTwelve Studio is a video game development studio created by Koola & Viv composed mainly of cats and a handful of humans.

  • Air trafic controller (Europe, not FAA…)

It’s honestly a kind of dream job as I work around 2 weeks a month, have 7 weeks of paid vacation + I can call in “unfit to work” anytime with no question asked. We often work 2 to 4 hours less than the official time we are paid for. We get paid health cure and the job is not that hard or stressful when you are good at it (I’ve done it for 15 years, it’s like a second nature now).

The pay is very good, around 100k (€/$/chf, it’s basically the same) at entry level and around 220k after 20 years of experience. I’m at 150k for a 80% part time contract.

The only downsides are the working hours, 24h a day 7 days a week which gets tiring as you age. And that much money for not much work makes me lazy, not being at risk means I’m not making efforts to gets better. I dream of being an independent worker, working from home or anywhere in the world on my framework 13 by making creative work, but I’m not pushing hard for that dream as everything is ok with my life and job.

I know, that’s totally a “1st world problem” and I’m not complaining at all. It’s just that being too comfortable in something does not push you forward.
