I said a year ago that labour was going to be so dreadful there we’d see a surge in Reform.
Now that that’s come to pass, friends asking me what’s going to happen next and all I can say is I don’t know - I just hope we’ll all be ok.

It must be something like that.
Typically I don’t engage with libs on politics because we’re using entirely different lenses of analysis.
But in the past year people in my life have gone from asking me why I’m not voting for labour in the general election, to asking me to explain why I knew labour would be so bad, to asking me to explain Ibrahim Traoré and the Sahel to them because they like his reforms(?!??).
People want something to believe in.
None of these weapons will be used to defend Europe. They will sit in a stockpile and be sent to assist yet another genocide in a decade or two.
If you want more Andor…
Motorcycle Diaries, then Che part 1/2.
I’m annoyed that our ace users are being exposed to this discussion. Not every space has to be sexualised. It’s not prudish, it’s just respecting people’s differences.
Please just spoiler tag it. It’s not a big deal.
Yes, our site culture is a little different - it’s trying something unusual - but for some people having an extremely LGBTQ positive space where sexual content is opt-in is like drinking the most refreshing glass of water you’ll ever experience.
They detain journalists who talk about eroding freedoms. They detain activists that protest growing surveillance.
It’s their way of reminding people they are being watched and that they should back off if they don’t want trouble.
The US sure showed Yemen why they don’t have free healthcare (because they are a decaying empire that doesn’t care about it’s people).
Congrats on the Yemeni people’s second victory, and I hope they are preparing for the inevitable third.
Lemmy libs should be forced back to Reddit.
The problem with liberalism is that eventually they run out of other people’s labor. They should develop their own platform rather than spreading their vile genocidal, classist ideology on the back of someone else’s work.
I condemn the USSR for liberating the occupied Polish colonies purely out of practicality rather than because it was the right thing to do.
The future is unpredictable.
Western liberal democracy, once touted as the pinnacle of governance, is starting to swing towards reactionary thinking and economic stagnancy as the realization that the easy looting of the past 40 years is coming to an end. - The world has entered a state of flux - Out of that, however, I’ve seen a change in peoples attitudes as they realize that politics is not something they can ignore. Consider this: our enemies are making it increasingly obvious just how evil they are. Every time the chuds get the warm fuzzies from the latest truly heinous world event, somewhere, people are starting to realize that their liberal understanding of the world is very very flawed. Previously, I thought we’d just barely carry the torch through an age of stability, remaining fringe weirdos clasping the stale arguments of last century’s class-conflict.
Now I think that actually, people will find their way to aligning with us as they scramble to higher ground trying to avoid drowning in fascism.
Modern life can be extremely isolating, and that isolation will become dangerous in a world that keeps going the way it is going. Make friends. Build support networks. As the tide rises we will find new comrades. Be ready to find islands of safety. Be ready to help pull people to safety.
Feddit has no obligation to submit to a supreme court ruling. The Feddit admins simply have no intention of preventing transphobia on their instance. Either they agree with it, or they’re too weak to stop it.
On Hexbear we have a fantastic melange of people who would be banned on sight in other instances purely because of their country of origin. I value that global scale bubble.
Unfortunately when the varying opinion is whether or not our trans users should be harassed, there’s no room for open mindedness. We just can’t take the risk with instances who’s admins are lax on protections we enjoy here. If you find things that are posted here interesting, I’d suggest making an account.
Many people have recently.
UK Supreme Court has ruled that the concept of sex is strictly binary, and based on sex at birth.
Trans women are now excluded from women’s spaces and services, even if they have a gender recognition certificate. Discrimination is now codified.
Such a dirty strike by the Russians. They’ve had such a good record of avoiding civilian casualties so far, but this strike was unusually and callously bloodthirsty.
It’s evil behaviour more comparable to NATO and IDF tactics where the civilian casualties are the point.
Let’s split Germany into quarters this time. Maybe zigzags.
