TinyPuni (she/her) @lemmy.worldto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Eight US states seek to outlaw chemtrails – even though they aren’t realEnglish132·1 day agoIt seems fairly obvious based on other articles talking about this that the legislation originates from chemtrail conspiracy theories and not actual geoengineering. I will quote some parts
Louisiana Rep. Kimberly Landry Coates stood before her colleagues in the state’s Legislature she warned that the bill she was presenting might “seem strange” or even crazy.
Coates described situations that are often noted in discussions of “chemtrails”
As she urged lawmakers to ban the unsubstantiated practice, she told skeptics to “start looking up” at the sky.
“I’m really worried about what is going on above us and what is happening, and we as Louisiana citizens did not give anyone the right to do this above us
Such bills being crafted is indicative of how misinformation is moving beyond the online world and into public policy.
Chemtrail believers often call chemtrails “geoengineering” as a means of giving their conspiracy theories some credibility. That’s not to say geoengineering isn’t real. I’m saying it’s a term that conspiracy theorists have appropriated to talk about chemtrails without actually mentioning the word chemtrails

The link you provided has nothing to do with the contrails that we see in the sky every day. You can get binoculars or a high zoom camera and see that the contrails originate just aft of the exhaust nozzles. The 850°C engine exhaust mixes with the freezing cold -50°C air and condenses. In a four engined plane you’ll see 4 trails, in a twinjet you’ll only see two

TinyPuni (she/her) @lemmy.worldto Ask@lemm.ee•What part of your body has caused you problems recently?English1·2 days agoI’m managing things so much better since I got my prescription of ivabradine! I have the hypovolemic type of POTS meaning my blood volume is abnormally low and because of that my perfusion is also low which makes my heart freak out. Ivabradine not only slows my heart it also makes each heartbeat stronger so more blood can be effectively pumped around my body
I still have to be wary about standing still for too long and I still have to consume massive amounts of salt on a regular basis to keep my blood volume up otherwise I become a cold shaking mess. On the plus side I never have to worry about getting high blood pressure!
TinyPuni (she/her) @lemmy.worldto Ask@lemm.ee•What part of your body has caused you problems recently?English1·2 days agoPOTS and cardioinhibitory syncope. Both stem from genetic abnormalities. The first one is severe enough that my heart rate has been as high as 260 bpm, the second one is severe enough that my heart stopped for a few moments during a tilt table test. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone but ivabradine has been an absolute godsend
TinyPuni (she/her) @lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something you once had a lot of respect for but now have no respect for?3·2 days agoMe neither! Really frustrates me when companies remove good features for no apparent reason
TinyPuni (she/her) @lemmy.worldto Ask@lemm.ee•What part of your body has caused you problems recently?English3·2 days agoMy heart and my joints. I’m on meds for my heart. Sometimes my hip joint will partially come out and I have to do this little dance to get it back into place. It makes this loud click sound when it does. Can be really painful to walk on the affected side
TinyPuni (she/her) @lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something you once had a lot of respect for but now have no respect for?34·2 days agoGoogle. It was once a good search engine. Now I find myself getting only the most irrelevant results based on my keywords and more often than not an advanced search turns up nothing of value
This is probably my Greek side talking, but I find that manestra just doesn’t hit the same without some diced celery!
TinyPuni (she/her) @lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a movie that "looks like" it would suck, but actually is well written and acted and a good time?191·3 days agoI honestly thought Wonka was going to suck, but it turned out to be a pretty good film!
TinyPuni (she/her) @lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is some pleasantly menacing music, preferably longer form?2·3 days agoDescending into Gloom’s Lair from Tears Of The Kingdom. Not sure about long form but I love the parts with the choir. Absolutely sounds like you’re entering a place that you shouldn’t, but then the music changes to sound more heroic the longer it goes on
I have heart problems so I do whatever I can to avoid potentially getting an infection that’ll aggravate it. I’ve gotten some weird looks but honestly don’t care
