Do you exercise? Is dad bod catching up over time?
On this same theme: the thought work needed for any pet is not feasible for me. The work going into cleaning child shit makes me resentful of having to clean animal shit, before I even have a pet.
I look forward to my 12.5 hour shift later this week… With a full week of normal working days before and after.

Thanks. I work for tips. Please see my other memes also.
Yes, it is dark but that’s the artist’s choice of colour palette to make it greyscale. I find it is easily visible on my screen. You might need to turn the brightness up to help you see it better.
I carry a Fire TV stick with me that accesses my Jellyfin server. Just connect it to the internet and you’re good to go.
cRazi_man@europe.pubto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do you combat boredom?English10·3 days agoSame. I also cannot fathom the number of people who say “I’m not looking forward to retirement, I don’t know what I would do with myself”.
In this day and age, there are unlimited options to read, watch, listen to, interact with, play and learn. And this isn’t even limited to consuming digital content. Learn to sculpt, or take apart a computer, or make a movie on your phone, or write a story, or learn a language, or learn a new physical skill (juggling?).
The amount of time and energy (and money, although many options are free) are the barriers, not the options available… and yet I sit here and play Balatro and Enter the Gungeon for the millionth time (#noragrets).

There’s an almost unlimited amount of work to do. The elderly/children to care for, the art to be made, the research to be done, etc. Tractors freed up a huge amount of the world population to work on other things, current technology does the same.
The problem is that humans have made a system of tightly controlling what work gets valued, how much it gets paid, what should be done and gatekeeping qualifications/resources to be allowed to do things.

… because I don’t use Windows. I wish it was also because I managed to get rid of WhatsApp from my life.

There’s a good podcast I follow that covered this. Diagnosis rates in elderly residential homes are similar to children by today’s standards.

cRazi_man@europe.pubto Gaming@lemmy.world•Is that a mod on the device that you own?English24·4 days agoThe fact that they just dropped family sharing on us and there’s hardly any game excluded is insane. Games I never would have picked up otherwise, I get to try now because one of my brother’s bought it. We don’t even get the bullshit video streaming sites do “this content is disappearing from family sharing soon…”.
cRazi_man@europe.pubto Linux@lemmy.ml•My first installation of linux on a 5 year old laptop30·3 days agoWelcome to Linux. Glad to see you’re not letting the hurdles get in your way and are working through solutions. There’s more to come.
You say “5 year old laptop” as if that’s ancient… 10th gen Intel 😄. I don’t even look at laptops newer than 5 years. Don’t need much more for internet tasks and office work.
It depends on the desktop environment.
Ubuntu is the base version and uses GNOME.
Ubuntu + KDE (the most superior of all DEs) = Kubuntu
Ubuntu + XFCE = Xubuntu
