I’ve used Windows my whole life at home. Last year I realized I kind of hate gaming at a desk since I’m at one all day for work, so I bought a used Steam Deck. Literally have not touched Windows since. I probably don’t need a home computer anymore and if I need one in the future, I’m confident it won’t be running Windows.

graymess [none/use name]@hexbear.netto games@hexbear.net•Sunday is Gaming Day: What Are You Playing Weekly ThreadEnglish5·26 days agoJust started Persona 3 Reload. As a longtime fan of the series, I do find it a little strange. Everything is laid out exactly as it was when this game came out on the PS2, but it’s all shiny and high rez. They didn’t take the opportunity to redesign much at all, so you see stuff like the interior of the dorms that feels very much like a 2000s era video game building interior where the ceiling is unrealistically high on each floor because they didn’t know how to program a camera back then, but again, super modern textures and lighting on top of that. It reminds me a little of those YouTube videos by like beginner game devs who import a bunch of Nintendo assets into Unreal engine and label it like 4K realistic Mario or something. Thankfully the UI sells the authentic experience.
But boy, did they overhaul the main dungeon and combat. That shit is smooth as hell and just as engaging as Persona 5. Can’t say I’m a huge fan of the new vocalist so far. She just doesn’t give the battle theme the swag it used to. Something about the way she over-pronounces “baby, baby” bugs me, I guess lol.

I went to the LA Hands Off rally anticipating liberal cringe, especially after reading their list of goals. Saw plenty of it in the attendees, but was actually surprised at how many of the speakers called out Democrats in front of a crowd full of mostly “blue no matter who” types.

graymess [none/use name]@hexbear.netto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What percentage of people you've met do you consider a genuinely good person? Someone you could trust your life with if need be?English3·2 months agoI know way more people who would at least attempt to save my life in an emergency than I think are genuinely good people. But I do actually think that’s part of identifying a decent person. Empathizing with someone suffering in front of you and wanting to help is such a low standard for empathy that even untrained animals sometimes pass this bar. Empathizing with living things more broadly and outside of your personal bubble is a task that’s apparently too much to ask of most people I’ve met. Good way to gauge this is to get someone talking for a bit about the unhoused population of their hometown.

Is using “unalive” functionally any different from using “kill” on any social media platform today?
Seeing video of Rahaf giggling and playing around on her two prosthetic legs with Ms Rachel made me fucking sob, man. Seeing kids suffering is devastating, but it wrecks me to see how after all they’ve been through they can still be kids, still have fun and laugh, and knowing that thousands of those children will never even get the chance to experience that again. It makes me feel so sick and empty.
