this is the time for civility libs to really shine as an appendage of fascism
So is this true? Outside leftist spaces is there a groundswell of “I can’t say what I want to happen to these people” sentiment?
That sounds too good to be true, but I would love if this were the case
Man this does not sound good
Hell yeah, I love this!
I do think the visual design could be clearer. This is a lot of text. Maybe focus on a simpler message: “Researchers have found that living within 1 mile of a golf course doubles your risk of Parkinson’s, likely due to heavy pesticide use.” There’s a reason the original headline said “doubles” rather than “increases by 126%.” Your brain understands “doubles” in an instant, while numbers take a while to become meaning.
Another note, this phrasing is a little awkward: “This land is poisoning you. We can choose a better world without it.” Without what? Logically we can figure out that you probably mean “without poison,” but that moment of confusion weakens the impact.
Also second the suggestion to include a QR code
How does it feel to be you, @blandfordforever?
Try to explain it to a stranger who is not like you at all. Someone who has lived a different life.
It’s not easy. That’s because words are a poor substitute for empathy. If you really want to understand someone, you need to actually put in the cognitive effort to imagine how it feels to be them. Put yourself in their shoes. If you can’t understand why it’s different for a woman than for a man, it’s because you’ve never put in any effort to imagine how it feels to be a woman.
Our words are not going to do that for you
I could sit here and list all the things that men do to women. Or I could say, “living in a sexist society as a woman is dehumanizing, much like living in a racist society as a racial minority is dehumanizing, and when a man or a white person gloats at you and acts superior, like you’re nothing, like you’re a piece of dirt, that gets under your skin in a way that the reverse wouldn’t, because of the context, because the society that you live in and the things you have experienced.”
But if you don’t put in any effort to actually imagine the reality of what I’m saying, those are just words.
It’s not a debate, we’re not going to logic our way to an answer here. This is an exercise in empathy. You either put in the cognitive effort to actually imagine what it’s like, to actually put yourself in someone else’s shoes, or we’re describing color to the blind.
American analysts, including Biden earlier in his career, have long foretold that the threat of Ukraine joining NATO would provoke an invasion by Russia.
Why did Biden later claim the invasion was expansionist? The same reason Bush claimed Iraq had WMDs. The same reason Obama claimed the Libyan state was about to commit a genocide, or that the Syrian state had used chemical weapons when evidence instead pointed to the Al Nusra front.
In reality, Russia invaded Ukraine because Russia is scared of NATO, because NATO is an arm of American power, and Ukraine joining NATO would put American power on the border close to Moscow. This response was so predictable that analysts have been forecasting it literally for decades.
America prolongs the war to weaken Russia, and indirectly China, because this strengthens America’s hold over the global south.
I’ve been trying to figure out the core belief of civility libs
My current guess is something like misanthropy or subconscious classism. I think they’re scared of mass insurrection because they look down on the mass public. I feel like I often hear them voice sweeping negative opinions about human nature, like “people are stupid,” “people are gullible,” “people are greedy.” My hunch is that this sentiment can be challenged and corrected, if their personality isn’t too malignant and they don’t have some innate need to feel better than other people.
Why do India and Pakistan fight over their border? Is it more economic or more social?
What about leaving the US? Do they detain people on the way out?
the fucking gestapo showed up
I think the average Trump supporter is reachable—and if you have the resources of a government, as you seem to be imagining, I think they are reachable at scale. This is the 21st century, at this point the experts know how to influence people. Generations of marketers, academics, and psyops specialists have studied this problem. The knowledge is out there. If the CIA can spin up a color revolution, we can reeducate chuds.
But this all assumes a peacetime scenario where a communist government presides over a large population of chuds lol. Idk if that would happen in real life. Others can weigh in, I have no idea.

Sometimes you gotta connect with someone on a personal and cultural level before they’ll listen to you. People believe what their group believes, because 1) it helps them fit in, and 2) they trust the collective wisdom and values of their group more than they trust their own limited personal judgment and life experience. If you threaten the beliefs that help them get along with their peers, they’re gonna shut down to protect themselves before you even get to the logical part of their brain. The best way to get past this is to connect with them first over shared values and life experiences, because it kinda legitimizes what you’re saying and gives them permission to think about it.
Just my 2 cents, not aimed at OP or anyone in particular
Looks like there are other stories. The nun thing seems to be real, for example
I’m not voting, but I just wanna say, in a reasonable society, opposing someone’s rights would get you beat up
when a majority white community mocks a chinese man by comparing his appearance to a yellow bear, it’s a little weird
is this a bit?
