Yeah, sometimes they help to communicate with other players or the developers, seek out hints or bug reports, share cool things from the game or that you did in them, or talk to valve about features/bugs.

They would be a lot more useful if they were actually moderated but most game developers seem unable or unwilling to do it, and valve is the same, so what ends up happening is that it just becomes a breeding ground for fascism.

Part of the problem is the lack of tools/functionality. Lemmy doesn’t allow for hiding images without the NSFW tag. It could/should function a lot more like mastodon in some ways in our opinion, allowing both the user to hide all images in their settings and having more specific CWs that could hide even the post image behind.

Valve are irresponsible. Either it should moderate its forums or there shouldn’t be any. All the time we see fascist rhetoric about ‘DEI’ and ‘Woke’. We’ve reported some but they functionally are useless, so why have them?

More detailed description: At the very top is a dark blue strip with the words “More Terrific Thrills on the Unknown Planet.” in white lettering. Underneath that is a border that goes around the entirety of the main part of the page with 4 red squares in each corner with white gaps between half squares that are also red. Below that is a red background with the word “The” coloured yellow and Hotspur coloured Blue with a white border around each letter. On the red background below the words are outlines of people and objects, the objects are a flag on the left and several people looking like they’re play British style football with one person kicking the ball, one person defending against it and the goalkeeper catching it with a goal behind them. They are all on a hill with some mountains in the background, the hill is partially green and partially earthen in colour with some bushes and grey and brown rocks dotted about the place.

Spirit animals are part of indigenous cultures and should not be used as a term outside of them else it is appropriation. There are other terms which can be used and we will share them later.
