I don’t personally subscribe to the porn addiction narrative. There’s a lot of unhealthy socialization around sex that is not addresses in that framework at all, which I find pretty sus.

A lot of people also just have an unhealthy relationship with sex which makes their relationship with porn also unhealthy. Navigating sex and relationships is tough. Just doing that badly enough is enough to fuck a person up. That said, if the lens of addiction helps people manage their relationship with porn better that’s great!

I had a friend with problems like that, but he seemed a lot happier after moving to Brazil from the US. This was in Utah though and to me a lot of those folks look like clones. Might be a different issue in that case.

Personally do I think excessive porn consumption can cause developmental issues, but that’s not the same as addiction.

Nature is indifferent in the sense that it doesn’t respond to faith or manifestation. Which is probably why they hate it. The natural world in an “unpleasant” reminder that we live in a deeply connected material world where actions have consequences and downstream effects, even if you don’t want them to.

What if US lost its place as hegemon? Could the Russian Federation really fill that role? They look more like a regional power to me. PRC maybe, but they seem more interested in expanding their influence through trade than hard power. I could be wrong though.

Based on the chisme I’ve heard on the subject, there was a lot of corrupt normalization of gang authority in government that played a part in that. Which may have also lowered the murder rate without mass incarceration. A lot of the political mandate for Nuevas Ideas came from their anti corruption angle which aimed to root out any gang influence and control over government functions. Which I think is why a lot of locals credit him for ending gang rule in the country. At least from what I gather from my family’s comments on the topic.
