Currently using Unraid. I like the docker management, plugin support, and the flexibility with adding storage. But I do already have a lifetime license that I got for cheap a few years back. They’ve raised the price significantly since then
If I had to choose today, I’d go with TrueNAS Scale
The t480 was the last thinkpad with a useable CPU and a rich feature set (dual battery, removable battery, replaceable ram, ability to use a 2nd SSD via the wan slot). Linux support is great and libreboot support was just released for it.
I also have a newer amd x13 thinkpad. Sure the overall performance is better but the keyboard is not as good, s3 sleep battery drain sucks, and it takes forever to boot up
They are probably 256gb drives that show up in the OS as 4tb. When you start writing files over the actual capacity of the drive , it will just start overwriting the initial files that you put on there.
