Not sure what type of wood. I used chisels, a handsaw and a rotary tool to get it to this point.

    Doesn’t look like it got to the spider, could be a sick feature, if you fill it with web or tiny spiders or something

      I’ll have to think about the spider web. Was kinda stuck. Thinking maybe a hour glass shape, tongue and groove piece across the crack. I think woodworkers, call it a bow tie. But it’s the wrong kind of arachnid.

      Or maybe some color epoxy, and back lit.

    Most timber that includes the heart, or core, of the tree will eventually split/check like that.

    I think it still looks awesome though. Please post the final result when you’re done!

    Nice work! Maybe you’ll find some inspiration and incorporate the gap into the design :)
