Two part meme. Part one is a crying young person who looks like they’re desperate to get someone to understand something. Caption: ‘Me explaining why I can walk fast and run but can’t stand or walk slowly well’. Part two is a super annoyed looking, slightly older person. Caption: ‘people still assuming I’m lying out of laziness’.

Me trying to explain I can’t sit up to people or I faint.

People keep on telling me to sit up so I say fuck it and sit up to show them, obviously I faint, I wake up a couple minutes later.

Them: Damn you’re a great actor dude.

A lot of people feel it is their “responsibility” to weed out “fakers” of disability.

(Never mind that disability application process is a nightmare in most countries that takes years, where even if you are disabled you often have to apply multiple times and hire a lawyer hefore you get accepted etc.)

You got the meme wrong. Hypotension is on the couch, ableists are up.
Also why does anything on search engine with tension in it comes back to hypertension. I need my salt…

Thanks for letting me know! I’m autistic, so I sometimes mix these things up. I guess I just related to the person on the lefts expression.

Don’t get me started. The RAGE I feel when search engines try to correct me when I’m searching up a health issue, simply because the opposite problem is more common. One time, I saw a link that said something like ‘healthy blood pressure range’ and was like, omg finally. But it said ‘anything under 130/90 is great! ☺️👍’. I was like?? I’m pretty sure one of the numbers is supposed to be three digit??? Do you not know what the word range means? Ugh so alienating.

I also hate that I need my salt but I’m not supposed to have iodine, and salt almost always has iodine here. I get it, it’s healthy for most people, but not for me.

OK, now you got me curious. I just searched hypotension and assuming I got the right wikipedia article its chronically low blood pressure, so now I would like to know if my hypothesis is right:

The Wikipedia article listet blackouts as one of the symptoms due to the brain not receiving enough oxygen. The reason you can walk fast/run is, since then your heart rate and blood pressure goes up, so you aren’t at risk of blacking out. However, if you walk slowly more oxygen is need by the rest of the body, but your heart rate/blood pressure doesn’t go up risking a blackout?

This Community is also one of The prime examples, why I love Lemmy. Seeing all kinds of different communities about topics I have never heard about is absolutely great.
