Jamelle Bouie is a Bluesky darling…
Bouie has written extensively on racial politics, including slavery in the United States and the American Civil War, the killing of Trayvon Martin, the Ferguson unrest, the Charleston church shooting, and the Black Lives Matter movement.
What I find telling is that he never seems to write about how to change the US for the better. And his Bluesky fan base really hates anybody who points that out.
I understand why his comment setting require you to follow him to reply. He’s a notable black person so surely he gets tons of abuse. But his comment threads are always an echo chamber of libs who wish they were back at brunch. Bluesky settings are very strict. If you don’t follow him - you can’t comment at all - even in a subthread. And any leftist who does the rigmarole and follows him will always have their comments buried and/or get ridiculed by the Bluesky LibBorg.
Light up keyleth is right though. They’re all conservative and would be a conservative party if the Republicans weren’t playing hotstep with the fascist line in the sand 24-7
I picked that particular thread because it’s the most popular but also because Light up keyleth’s comment literally made me smirk. Their honesty is refreshing. Kudos to them. Bluesky libs are rarely so honest.
And they say Americans can’t get politically educated
im socially liberal but fiscally conservative. that means i like the idea of disabled people not being killed on the streets, but i dont reaaaally want to take any money away from the rich to do that
And funny enough, the socially liberal and fiscally conservative types are the last people to want to take away porky’s subsidies, or any protectionism, or build more housing in in-demand areas which might lower property values.
mao was before trump, therefore when i say i’m fiscally conservative, i mean i want a total redistribution of land and the means of production to the people
Each comment gets worse
I don’t know if you saw the body text but Bouie’s posts tend to be an extreme lib echo chamber. They really get their freak on.
Imagine thinking the right wing ever wanted to be fiscally responsible…
“Socially liberal but fiscally conservative” is just an embarrassed white supremacist or one who has never critically examined an iota of their own politics and just lives their PMC suburban (white) life on vibes.
IRL I describe myself as a “”““centrist””“” while spouting off commie pinko shit. People are flabbergasted when I tell them we should abolish the police and borders and give guns to homeless people are my centrist opinions.
I suppose it would help if I told them I meant “centrist between Third World Maoism and The Black Army.”
Damn right I’m a centrist, I want to find the reasonable middle ground between Marxist-Leninism and anarchism.
Sensible/reasonable fetishizing is just dressing up being pusillanimous as sone noble philosophy.
