Interesting that Feige is giving a big interview to media now.
Sounds like they want to ensure that people watch Fantastic Four. And that they know they don’t need to watch anything else beforehand.
I also wonder if the New Avengers performance caught them offguard and Marvel was anticipating better numbers.
I agree, it’s not Superhero fatigue, it’s audiences changing what we want out of a Superhero movie.
Everything leading up to Endgame was the same formula but audiences knew it was leading to something big. Now that it’s over, it’s much harder to tolerate the formula.
I believe, for these movies to be successful, it has to be about the journey and not the destination because we all know the destination. But it also has to be marketed well to reflect the change.
I thought Thunderbolts* was a terrific example of the story not being about the last fight but it wasn’t marketed well to reflect that.
Superman, on the other hand, did a really nice job of this. In particular, Lois, talking to Clark, saying she wants to interview Superman, and then going hard on him showed me this was going to be about more than a good guy punching a bad guy.
Really gold comment. I don’t get the thunderbolts part tho. It was marketed a lot, had big name actors and of characters that very pretty active in the marketing yet it still flopped. I dont understand what people want. I understand Superman because it’s the first movie of the new dcu and James gunn has a good record.

Superman was a wonderful commentary on society today while also giving us hope and someone/thing to aspire to.
