NASA has taken down two graphic novels featuring a female astronaut from its website. This decision seems to follow the Trump administration’s stance against
I feel like we’d exchange the Elon Musks of the world for the JK Rowlings of the world, the Ronald Reagans for the Margaret Thatchers, and the Donald Trumps for the Ayn Rands.
Fairer sex my ass
The only reason you don’t think women can be evil is because you’re too used to the idea of women as damsels to be rescued, too childish to be a threat to anyone. This is because the patriarchy hates the idea that a woman can be competent moreso than a man, even in acts of evil.
Prejudice, just like the Far-Right, just with different “superior” and “inferior” groups.
Historically the best criteria for selecting people to positions of power is how little they want power, not gender or race.
(Personally I think that’s because people who do not want power see it as a burden, and they do so because for them power is a great responsability towards many others - what sane individuals would ever want to be in a position were they can ruin the lives of countless people by making a mistake - and that’s exactly the kind of people you want to entrust with it, not the ones for whom power is a form of ego-stroking or even a tools for personal upside maximization)
God I’m reminded of anytime I watch something from the 90’s and then an asian character shows up…
It’s not that I’m racist and go into “WOKE MOBS TOOK MY WHITES AWAY!!!11111” mode
It’s that for the longest time in America, media was blatantly racist against basically everyone and in the 90’s, the cold war was over, the best electronics came from Japan, so the media was trying (and failing) to learn how to be not so asiaphobic. This didn’t mean “Don’t do stereotypes!”, this means “Do positive stereotypes”
So every show either had the one asian cast member or that one episode where the asian character showed up, and you could just HEAR the writers saying “Oh no, so he’s very proud of his heritage and is very smart, so it’s a positive thing. That makes up for his dialogue sounding like fortune cookies that have been put through google translate fifty times!”
And then you went into the 2000’s and this also became how they wrote black characters… Irwin from Billy and Mandy, Tucker from Danny Phantom, The Dino Thunder Blue Ranger, Richie from Static Sh… wait… Richie was the token white guy (In an amazing show I might add, god I should re-watch Static Shock)… Well my point still stands, they’re all the same fucking character “Oh no he’s really dorky and super smart, so it’s the exact opposite of the stereotype is the joke!”
Doing the exact opposite of the stereotype still calls attention to the stereotype, god damn it!
Miles Morales has shades of this too, but he’s nowhere near as insufferable as these characters and is far more believable as a “Black Nerd” than any of them.
Sorry, I remembered “Benevolent Racism” when you mentioned benevolent sexism, and that awakened that.
It’s really weird when the 90’s show you’re watching is based on an Asian Property and it does this nonsense, because I look at characters like “Kong Fu” from Donkey Kong Country, or the one episode of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog where Scratch and Grounder become “Ninja Robots” by draining the asianess from this Samurai Crane (I know samurai aren’t ninjas, but tell the show that), and I’m like… “Wow, I wonder how Shigeru Miyamoto and Yuji Naka felt if they ever saw this shit… Except fuck Yuji Naka, he’s a bit of a dick… The AoStH Episode is still fucked up though.”
And after 200 years of matriarchy, people would be saying that women are evil and we should have a patriarchy. Whoever holds the power always ends up oppressing whoever doesn’t.
The problem is too many won’t go for it. I recently met a guy who completely voted against his own best interests just because Kamala was born with a vagina instead of a penis. He admitted it freely, so he knowingly voted for the people who want to make people like him slaves again. It’s absolutely mind boggling.
Statistically, women leaders start more wars than men, so a matriarchal society signs us up for more war. The group statistically likely to start less wars is former soldiers, probably because they know the horrors.
Maybe leadership is more “content of character” than a gender issue
If we survive this, we really should switch to a matriarchal society.
I’d love to live in a society where no particular gender held most positions of power or had more legislative influence.
Sure, but if we HAD to have a gender in charge, I’d prefer women.

Yupes, good old “benevolent” sexism.
Prejudice, just like the Far-Right, just with different “superior” and “inferior” groups.

Yeah, but that’s someone else’s problem as I’ll be long gone by then.

as a treat
And a break! Patriarchy hurts everyone.
You can have a little patriarchy on the full moon, as a treat
Heck, yeah! I can be the Ceremonial Male at special festivals and then just chill and be normal the rest of the time.
I’m not against the idea at all, but there are pletny of women in power at the federal level that are absolute dogshit as well.

Yes, merit is overrated. We should just get more of Giorgia Meloni, Alice Weidel and Marine Le Pen. Clearly Europe is on the right track…
Have you not seen tumblr? You’ll just get Elon Musk with a vagina and a hate-on for anyone capable of having a hard-on… Even if they aren’t men.
So an even more mask-off JK Rowling

Women being leaders in a patriarchal society will probably behave like leaders in a patriarchal society.
One single woman in charge is not a matriarchy.
I saw a Sliders episode like that and if I recall it was pretty sweet
I don’t know about that. If I recall that woman got busted for hiding men at her place. They knew because the toilet seats were left up!
Oh god I remember that episode. I haven’t seen it for so long that I have to see it again.
