Plus, statements like “felt like hours” can mean many different things. Anon says it felt like hours, yet doesn’t describe very many things happening. The sort of amnesia-like feeling of waking up from a dream when your brain has flushed your short term memory down the drain and has to rebuild context for what happened can be described as “feeling like hours passed” when not much time passed. Anon’s dream doesn’t have many details because, like all dreams, it wasn’t terribly long. It felt like a long time, because like all sleep, there is a very distinct gap in your perception of time about what happened.

I am from the southeast US. I don’t necessarily believe any of these dishes are unique to my area, but I really enjoy them.

1. Grits. Sort of like oatmeal but corn. There are plenty of ways to make it, some make it sweet, some make it savory, some do a little of both. Shrimp and grits is a popular dish, but I think it’s more associated with Louisiana specifically.
2. Divinity. A very rich, sugary treat. I haven’t had many chances to have this, but it’s very good. It’s the sort of treat I associate with big family dinners on Thanksgiving from family members who “haven’t seen [me] since [I] was this big” who have long since passed away.
3. Reindeer Mix and Diddly Doos. These are two winter treats my family makes. I don’t believe they’re local dishes or anything, but because my mom makes them I do consider them cultural. Reindeer Mix is essentially home made Chex Mix you mix a few forms of Chex cereals with other ingredients and drizzle a savory sauce over it and bake it. Tastes best warm. Diddly Doos are basically cheese biscuit/crackers. Think “cheese straw” but shaped in a disk. I think some people call them cheese doodles.

I had an Amazon bot lie to me. I told it some item didn’t show up and I wanted a replacement. It said it would send one and it would show up in my orders. It never did. So I requested a refund later. So tedious.

Checks and balances are only are good as the morals of the people enforcing them.

Different file system formats have different strengths and weaknesses. There isn’t a universal best one.

I’m not talking about how easy it is to find topics, I’m talking about the amount of comments that load. Look at this from r/LifeProTips about oil changes. All that loaded is the auto mod sticky response about voting if it’s a good post and two comments. They make it very difficult to read conversations. This thread has 121 comments. Three are shown. Even pressing show more barely shows any responses down the tree.

It’s funny you say this, because nowadays it’s hard to actually find stuff on Reddit. So many comments are collapsed and so few are loaded that it’s really difficult to actually follow conversations. Add in NSFW posts and posts in small communities not even being viewable outside of the app (at least on mobile).
