Right! Thank you. I wasn’t kidding and I stand by what I said. I’m blown away by the replies to my comment too, because it’s true AND relevant. The deleted comments expressing hostility totally missed the point. Tweets are SUCH shitty ways of spreading information, but effective at misinformation. The right constantly makes fake history out of tweets like this one. when you see a wild unsourced claim that agrees with your worldview the smart thing to do is to question it, and look further into it. I wanted to see if anyone would actually try to educate me.

for real, what’s with this tweet? if it’s such a big cover up then why not include a source for it so people can learn?? I wasn’t even in the united states at the time. This is literally the first I’m hearing about it and I’ve been following US politics closely since I arrived here 5 years ago.

But no, it’s not an exposure problem it’s a YOU problem and if you dont remember then we are just better than you. That’s why the original tweet said “hey you know you no one else remembers this because they’re willfully ignorant?” oh wait no it didn’t, it said the media isn’t giving it attention, i guess that means we should link a fucking article god i hate social media sometimes

hey, just chiming in to say I really do appreciate your perspective – Narrative therapy is a real tool that can help people. and yet i think by implying that a narrative is “worse” if it doesn’t “work”, you’re overlooking the force of other systemic factors. just think about the logistics of these stories reaching people’s ears. who has command over our attention? what narratives are people exposed to on a day-to-day basis? where does the power lie behind those messages? the idea that the best narrative is the one that thrives is akin to meritocratic thinking – a demonstrably flawed system.

  • Not having a phone really sucks in this day and age. Imagine getting out of jail for something stupid like marijuana possession and then a parole violation due to a missed appointment. No one will hire you with your rap sheet. You live in a halfway house with a bunch of petty BS every day. And you can’t keep up with your parole demands because of how much your lack of a phone gets in your way. At the end of the day, there IS a way to succeed if you make the right choices, but shit, it’s just so much harder for some people to make the right choices when every day is crisis mode. And all because of WHAT?
