Australia has compulsory voting, but we still manage to elect politicians that have very similar stances to the UK and US 👀 :cia:

Australia has had a far-right government for more then 9 years. Anything mildly progressive about our country (like medicare) has been gutted.

Voting changes nothing when the population is blasted with far-right NewsCorp propaganda all day and has a Labour party who barely provides any pushback.

    I’ve been talking to a girl I used to date that had to move back to Aus because cancer treatments in the U.S. would of left her in debt for the rest of her life. She identifies as a socialist but is basically of the :vote: mindset and I keep thinking “I can fix her.” but if someone hasn’t been radicalized against neoliberal policies and governments by now I’m not really sure what will convince them.
