This dude has fucked his political career and I couldn’t be happier.
The two party system has clearly failed. It’s allowed zero pushback to Trump in the GOP and it’s made cowards of the Democrats.
I would hope that the destruction of democracy in of itself would educate these people but I highly doubt they’ll ever learn.
NOTHING he’s done up to this point will be remembered.
He will be remembered for this. This is it. This is his signature moment. I’m gonna gloat and make fun of him for that when I call and yell at him again tomorrow.
I dont think that this is a refutation of the two party system at all. I think this is a rebalancing of the system in likes to the tea party surge of the kid 2000s.
It isnt a rebuttal. Its a response. as much as the democratic party hates it, it still is well within the status quo and thats why schumer will hang his arms on the cross so to speak. Hes the willing and able party pariah. It is manufactured.
And thats why im worried it isnt enough. Its why im angry still.
Are they still rich? Nothing learned, then.
The two party system will always fail. The problem is, Durverger’s Law.
As long as the US uses Ordinal voting systems, we will never have a viable third party. Worse, any attempt to create a third party will only siphon votes away from its ideological neighbor, resulting in the ideological opposite gaining an easy win.
There’s a reason why Jill Stein had that dinner with Putin.
Not a surprise that this yellow-bellied bitch is too much a coward to face the people he fucked over.
So he capitulated to republicans and didn’t even do the thing he expidited surrender to have time for?
Call your senators (if dems) and demand change in the senate minority leader
Elected dems are showing rising anger, there is real chance to change leadership here
A bad political calculus, to say the least. Schumer has alienated himself from the core of his party and constituency, although he may not have expected such a strong response it is hard to see what he hoped to gain by joining Fetterman, Gillibrand, and other politicians that serve as internal stumbling blocks in terms of party solidarity and cohesion in the current environment, where democrats’ only positions of power require then to act unanimously.
he may not have expected such a strong response
I feel that’s rapidly become a neoliberal democrat feeling. Not that they’ll ever learn from it.
Little bitch.
Coward.
Hey Cuck Schumer, fuck you! you cowardly lickspittle quisling. I can’t wait to donate to your primary challenger.
thats a shame, he had a stop only a few blocks away from me
It’s not liberal criticism. fucking retard ass headline
Some of it actually might be. They kind of got the liberal base riled up for a potential government shutdown, then decided to back down after doing that. I think even the mainstream libs are upset.
So…
The cowardly coward continues to act the coward.
🤷♀️ 🤡 🖕
Devil’s avocado here, but Schumer kind of has a point. They do want a government shutdown Hell, they’re trying to dismantle the whole damn thing.
I also wouldn’t put it past them to keep dismantling things during the shutdown. Either DOGE cronies are declared necessary and exempt from furlough or they just keep dismantling things anyway. Either way, they would have far less oversight to keep doing what they’re doing.
I don’t know if there were any poison pills in the spending bill, but assuming the drama is just because he voted to keep things running, then it may be a bit undeserved. I’m under no impression that a government shutdown is going to stop Musk and his ilk from continuing to break things. Plus, I highly doubt they’re going to furlough ICE, so it’s not like that particular horror is going to stop with a shutdown.
What more power will a government shutdown give trump, than what he’s already taken for himself? Republicans in Congress already will let him do whatever he wants, he is already defying the judicial branch, he has full dictator level power in the government at the moment. And Schumer voted to continue that status quo instead of changing it.
Congressional votes are the end of the road and accepting excuses is a vote for fascism at the moment. Schumer has no business being in office and it was clear when he said he votes based on imaginary people from Long Island. I don’t care how much money he can raise if he betrays everything I care about.
If republicans wanted a shutdown, they wouldn’t have voted for cloture.
Can’t they shut it down themselves if they really wanted it shut down?

and they’re going to do that with or without congressional approval. which, to be clear, Chuckles, here, just voted to give them. Or did you think that amendment he’s blathering about is actually going to pass? (spoiler: it’s not.)
They could’ve negotiated to try to prevent some of the damage for their vote for the bill. Would it have done anything? Doubtful, but it would have at least shown that the Dems are willing to try something before rolling over to take it in the ass.
Ha ha!
