Seems pretty typical, some parents discriminate against their children and some don’t, many people are out and some aren’t. In the US you can still be killed for being openly gay in many areas, don’t really hear about that happening in China
A lot of what they’re saying sounds similar to what I hear from LGBTQ+ folks in the US, but it also sounds like China is 1 or 2 steps behind in a few ways on the issue, which is about what I expected. But also as expected, these people seem to feel like China is trending in a more accepting direction, whereas obviously it feels like the US is going the other direction.

Yeah I was going to post this. I expected the older generation of Chinese to be bigoted against lgbtq while the younger generations are more open and accepting. But like you said, it feels like, based on this video, China is progressing while the west is regressing.
