Banned last night and all my comments removed for calling out a Zionist troll who FREQUENTLY posts comments trashing Palestinians and celebrating death in the name of Israel.

But I’m the one that gets banned for Checks Notes “Rule 3: No Nazis, QAnon or similar”

What a circus, mods did ZERO due diligence before banning and the Zionists comment remains!

So, one of these 4 is a certified Power Tripping Bastard

*Edit: NOT TO MENTION the frequency with which I am in the Ukraine comm in support of Ukraine and correcting false comments and shit, THE KIND OF SHIT A MOD IS FOR.

Edit 2 I will concede that maybe I posted in haste. I was seeing red for a moment there because how the fuck is a user like that still just out and about commenting.

I would just like anyone who reads this to start being more aware of WHO you are interacting with on Lemmy and be more mindful of the scum around here that have popped up more and more as reddit migrants come in. We should NOT be “tolerant” of these people, they can go fuck off to X and Meta and their other fascy platforms.

Nope. I upvote that user’s comments when they seem reasonable, downvote when they aren’t. We learn from each other and rethink our own positions when called out by each other. If that user chooses not to rethink their position, that’s on them.

An individualistic approach to cultivating community is counterproductive.

I’m neither admin nor mod. My strength and power lies in controlling me. I report particular nastiness when I see it.

Open hostility towards bad actors is useful in driving out the less-dedicated of the bad actors, in establishing norms against bad actors, and in discouraging any would-be bad actors who want to join.

Every member of a community has the power to contribute to that.

In theory, if we had perfect judgment then maybe this would be a healthy approach.

In practice I see a lot of people who think they’re doing this but are just caught up in their own emotions and are really engaged in bullying.

There’s definite caution that needs to be exercised in doing this, at the very least, as well as encouragement of restraint from the community and correction from the same.

No thanks, I’m not willing to wait around for a Zionist to “change”. Again, perhaps go read his comments elsewhere.

I’m not waiting for them to change. I’m busy with my own stuff. People are telling you to modify your behavior. You are rejecting that. Do you.
