Laptop screen broke, and as I don’t want to pay to repair it, I got a vga cable to connect it to a tv I dug out of the attic, problem being the display is ugly. It says unsupported but I want to believe I can make it work. Is it actually doable or is it a lost cause and to just get a monitor?
1440x900 probably is more than the native resolution of that tv. If you want to find the correct max resolution you could look up the model number to find it
or just start low and work up. 640x480 is basically unusable but a very safe fallback.
4:3 lcd panels are usually 1024x768, advanced settings to force the resolution should fix it 😊
I’m guessing this is a monitor and not a tv? I miss the days of 640x480. What’s the model?
It might be 720p in which case 1280x720. Or 1080p with 1920x1080. Do the laptop and TV have HDMI? That’ll be vastly more stable than VGA.
