Why does a small park need a parking lot that’s seemingly bigger than the park itself???
this is basically nearly every parking lot and the amenity or infrastructure it’s supposed to serve on account of cars are a lot bigger than humans and the average ridership is like 1,2 - 1,5 people / car depending on where you are.
I used to work at a place where my colleagues car got more space alloted to it than our shared office. If we factor in this was a multi-story-building we got about 1/3 of space for two people than 1 car
Well, cars need a proper, QUIET, place to socialize otherwise they might get aggressive.
stop making me like parking lots
It looks like it’s a boat launch. Google maps still shows the pre-renovation version, and it looks like the parking lot actually got smaller overall (that bit in the northwest that shows a paved trail in the renovated version was dirt/gravel and had road access and tire tracks, so it looks like that was another parking area) and the pier for the boat launch was rebuilt. That’s why it has those weird, very long parking spots on one side: they’re for cars with boat trailers.
It’s barely even a park, I could probably throw a rock across it.
It may make sense if it’s a small, potentially remote, area with a very nice view. I’m guessing it’s an area where tourists drive in, take a picture of whatever that park is facing, and leave.
It’s facing the port and downtown of a midsize city
I assume this is exciting for an American. And you get to visit a parking lot?
plus i feel like cars could already park there anyway.
are usians afraid to dirty their pickup trucks?
In Massachusetts they definitely are
park?
car park!
(we don’t call them parking lots in australia, we call them carparks)
(because you park your car lmao)
in America, we drive on parkways and park in driveways.
this image is doing me psychic damage.
you can tell when something gets me worked up because i multipost reply to myselfthis image is doing me psychic damage.
I’ve been looking at this closer, and it’s a boat launch squeezed into the margins between the river and some vacant paved lot that’s fenced off. What got paved was the existing parking lot and access road, while some effort was made to block off and restore another section where people had clearly also been driving onto and presumably parking on.
There’s a much larger, nicer looking park across the water with a tiny parking lot and pedestrian and bike access from both sides of the river.
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
“paradise” lol
It’s not a “park” park, it’s a boat ramp.
What a garbage country
They didn’t even follow the desire path. People are literally telling them which way they’re going to walk but they’re like “nah, we know better, put a tree in their way”.
Obviously it’s a park, it’s a place to “park” your cars.
we have the finest parking lots in the world, don’t we folks. just beautiful, graded, flat with the highest contrast lines on the darkest black surfaces.
there isn’t a better way to appreciate this planet than a parking lot one can’t see the other side of due to the curvature of the earth.
magnificent.
🤮🤮🤮🤮

Imagine a bike path and an option for a cute little trolley instead of being car brained
