Trump making the capitalist hellhole worse, does not make the capitalist hellhole acceptable. No matter if the presidents name was Trump, Biden, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush or Reagan.
An economy that cannot provide access to basic healthcare and education for its citzens is a failed economy, no matter how high the price tags of stocks traded by coked up psychopaths are.
Going for the “lesser of two evils” over the past 40 years at least is what brought us to Trumps presidency. In particular Biden and Harris brought us to his second presidency, embracing the support of Dick Cheney, which is a Bush era war criminal Republican foreign invader mass murderer.
Yes i both side this. The Democrats in their current shape are a big part of the problem and they oppose getting towards a solution. Because a solution would be against the US oligarchy and the DNC is equally representing that oligarchies interests. Just the flavor of oligarchs is different between the two parties.
I agree, people should have challenged Biden and Harris in the primaries.
They should have voted non aligned and disrupted DNC events until a proper primary was held. The inaction in pushing the Democrats to bringing up a non genocide, non mass deportations, non economically cynical and classist towards the poor candidate was an issue. However that should not distract us from the institution that fought against getting any such candidate and instead pushed Biden until it was unbearable and then switched to Harris.
The inaction of the people was part of the problem. As the largest block was non voters, if these had went for an agreed upon third party instead, they could have made the presidential race even if the DNC kept blocking any progressive candidate.
At least now many people become fully aware of the true colors of the US empire and the evil it does to its citizens and people all over the world. Many people before deemed these acceptable under a Democratic president. Now is the chance to rebuild a proper political and economic system in the US. This is why it is so crucial to not let the Democrats off the hook either. There will be no healing in the US as long as the Republican and Democrat elites remain in power.
There wasn’t a proper primary for Biden. There was no primary for Harris. She just got all the delegates pledged from Biden. And they were destined to make sure that Trump or a similiar candidate would win the 2028 election if he didn’t win already in 2024. And this is a continuation of the Clinton campaign, that almost comically made sure that Trump would be the only one addressing the issues of working class Americans.
The biggest problem with reactionary progressives right now is that they want yo tear down the system without putting in the effort to rebuild a new one.
Trump is a clear and present danger to many people right now and Biden or Harris would be much better.
After they won their primaries it was a choice between them or Trump so both sidesing this situation is both lazy and ineffective.
There’s never a good fucking time to point out Democrat failings, get shit on for doing it in the primaries, get shit on for doing it when they didn’t allow primaries, get shit on leading up to the election, they fucking LOSE and blame the left, then we still apparently aren’t allowed to point out Democrat failings when there are literally no stakes because Trump already won.
Primaries will never happen during a party’s incumbency.
We need to fix the FPTP by replacing it with Ranked Choice, and also get rid of the electoral college. Then, party primaries become irrevalent, since the spoiler effect is gone. I could just vote for an independent Bernie or AOC and skip the middleman (the democratic party)
No people voting for Trump or sitting out elections got us a Trump presidency.
This has been true for 40 years at least. Leftists pushing anti-electoralism/accelerationism are a big part of why we’re in this mess and why the Overton window has been able to be dragged so far to the Right. Protest (non-)voting having any impact to improve the world is bunk and likely to some degree an idea nurtured by authoritarian state actors.
Why would people vote for a party that says it doesn’t want them? Democrats are owed votes, they have to be earned. But Democrats every years try to appease “moderate” Republicans (as if that has ever actually been a thing) while telling everyone else to pound sand.
And yet Right-wing extremists have had incredible success in steering the GOP in the direction that they want, despite resistance, by actually engaging in electrical politics.
Your “point” is bunk and nothing more than an excuse to avoid attempting to bring positive changes without offering up vulnerable populations as sacrifice. There is no moral high-ground for anyone who engages in anti-electoralism/accelerationism.
What i am saying is that the GOP has spent the last 30 years catering to their extreme base, and it has brought them everything they want. Meanwhile the Democrats insist on shutting down anything to the left of Ronald Regan, and so their signature legislation in the past 20 years was just the Republican healthcare plan from the 90’s. The DNC will continue to be a useless party unless they start offering radical changes to American government instead of sticking to 20th century Neoliberalism.
I think the extreme right base is much larger than the extreme left base. That’s why it was a viable strategy for the GOP, and in fact dangerous to NOT cater to them.
If Leftists get the numbers, they’ll have a greater say. That means voting en masse in primary elections.
The DNC will continue to be a useless party unless they start offering radical changes to American government instead of sticking to 20th century Neoliberalism.
And what I’m saying is that they know leftists refuse to vote for them anyway (many wouldn’t even bother to vote for someone left of Marx, on principle and religious dedication to accelerationism), so, they are not inclined to budge. Allowing fascism to take the reigns taught them that they don’t have to even give lip service to socially left things, like supporting LGBT+ people, immigrants, or meaningful effort against genocide. You don’t get a voice if you don’t do the absolute bare minimum to speak up in the political system.
Leftists and progressives refusing to stand against fascism in November told me that my loved ones and myself have far fewer allies than we thought as too many are too far up themselves to do anything but the most performative bullshit that strokes their ego and let’s them tell themselves that helping increase the severity of ongoing genocide somehow is standing against it, or alternatively that they are very happy to offer up vulnerable people as sacrifices to magically achieve a workers’ utopia.
You know, I’ll agree with your first paragraph. But it’s not only the last 40 years, it’s even longer. Is there a realistic alternative? I don’t see one.
If the real left (not the democrats) in the us wants to be in power I don’t see an alternative to violence. And if violence is chosen I have my doubts that the left would win. It’s a lose lose situation. The US is a shit hole that won’t get better in the next decades or centuries. Maybe hope for a short respite like the 90s.

If Biden or Harris were president now live would be better for millions, perhaps even billions, of people on this planet.
Both sidesing this it lazy and ineffective.

When Biden won the first primary the choices were Trump or Biden.
When he stepped down and Harris won the second primary the choices became Trump or Harris.
Either Biden or Harris would have been much better choices then Trump so both sidesing this is lazy and ineffective.

Dude fuck off with this centrist bullshit.

When exactly are we allowed to say what WE WANT?

FYI, the GOP has literally made RCV illegal in some states they control.

I love how you’re comparing Obama to Regan it make it really easy to take you seriously.
