Buffet has a long history of stockpiling cash when the market becomes far too speculative. He’s also flat out said millionaires and billionaires aren’t taxed fairly compared to the working class.
I think Trump is trying to appeal to blue collar workers who have seen their jobs disappear. Tariffs are his ham fisted way of trying to appeal to them.
Trump is a fool though. It isn’t the 60s anymore and manufacturing won’t work in the US without inputs from Canada and Mexico.
The entire narrative that the US doesn’t have a manufacturing industry or blue collar work is largely a myth anyway. The US has a $2.4T manufacturing sector, which is larger than the entire GDP of Canada. There are also plenty of blue collar jobs in the trades.
This “problem” never gets solved because there is no problem. But the media of course continues to help Republicans gaslight us about it.
Many billionaires have recently cashed out not only Buffet. Of course it could be them predicting Trump being bad. But collusion would be possible.

Blame Reagan. This shit has been festering for decades.
The southern strategy yeah. But post Reagan, the Republican Party had been trying to be more inclusive. Bush made it a point to have more diversity in his cabinet. Hell after the 2012 election, FOX News was even saying “Maybe America Dosent Care About Immigration, we need to pivot”.
We made so much social progress during the Obama years man. Then trump came in and brought out the worst in our country.
The Internet becoming algorithm and bot driven was the point of no return I think.
I know there are a lot of bots on reddit nowadays, but I blame the bandwagoning bs more. It has just gotten worse and worse over the past 10 years.
Ten years ago, everyone was exposed to some amount of News (capitalized), could recognize News when they saw it (even as fringe case conspiracy theorists), and had a reasonable connection to reality. I’m just not seeing it anymore. There is no truth but my echo chamber
At the very least they were sane and acted in the interests of the country as they saw it. You could discuss, argue, sometimes work together, and we all went on bumbling our way forward.
There was so much hope around Obama, so much possibility, it felt like a turning point toward the future. And yes, Biden continued in them at direction.
I don’t know if it’s all backlash, or the death of traditional News, or “the algorithm”, but the reactionaries, regressives, narrow minded people with no trace of empathy not just found a voice but found an idol to worship. Who brought them to power. And being exploited just makes them cling to their worship
Bill Clinton’s success was the beginning of the end of bipartisanship in Federal politics. He made the economy as strong as it had been since the 50s and was the last president to leave office with less national debt. He wouldn’t have been able to do so without Republicans voting for his policies.
GOP strategist saw this, and pretty much since have went out of their way to block any potential progress from a Democratic president to keep them closer to unpopularity.
Obama was the first Dem to be a victim of this. But that guy could negotiate his ass off and was able to bounce back from the 08 recession rather quickly and ended his term with a positive economy.
Biden was too damn old to fight back or compromise, and didn’t have nearly as many votes as Obama to ignore the GOP with his reconciliation bill.
If more people online actually knew about civics and the inner working of political strategies, they’d realize just how much progress the GOP has blocked within the last 30 years.

Probably not here, probably none at all. They blindly follow Trump. And proud to be blinded too I might add: Before I left reddit I wanted to ask a similar question in the republican subreddit. However, they where so loud and proud they found liberals on the subreddit and banned them for life I never bothered to put out any questions there.

Project 2025. The goal is to remove all tariffs and other limitations against the US.
Canada for instance has laws on antibiotics for dairy, foreign ownership for banks and telcos, various things like that. India has tariffs on everything.

- Narcissism. There is only me, and other. There are no allies, just suckers. it’s all about me. Right here. Right now.
- Bullying. Trump styles himself as a great negotiator but from the outside it looks a lot more like bullying. And if you believe his commitments, you’re a sucker. He thinks this is “making deals” but is the only way he knows how to operate

Easy answer. The entire Government of Putin is working for shit Kremlin.
Isolating the US and breaking US hegemony. Trump is a Putin puppet, and what’s best for Russia is crippling the US economically and diplomatically. Alienating the EU cuts off the EU from the US who would otherwise help the Europeans against the Russians as they try to reclaim their former territories.
This also helps China who is trying to replace the US as the world superpower. BRICS is doing a good job of creating a competing economic alliance, and the US falling apart helps make it more attractive.
