They probably weren’t thinking about it at all and took the trolley back on auto pilot. Then they turned around and realised thay had walked way too far, cringed internally, and hoped noone noticed. You noticed and you chose to mske fun of them for it. Confirming that those of us riddled with anxiety are correct to feel constant shame about every minor mistake we make. Thanks.

I can’t throw the cart into the corral and see if I can make them stick together inside the store.

Yeah, they probably saw that one and think it’s closer. As long as the cart is put back it shouldn’t be an issue. If the corral is too far back then whoever design this parking space is at fault.

It isn’t so much that they did something “wrong”. I don’t even really blame the person themself. I find it more frustrating that many of us have grown so used to just leaving our problems for others to take care of, that we automatically walk 40ft to leave something where someone else will have to walk it 60ft, instead of walking the 20ft ourselves.

Today the shop might be busy, with limited trolley availability, and this might end up being convenient. You’ve had a massive over reaction, and it’s essentially based on someone wasting their time and wearing out their shoes.

It’s really funny to me that my being frustrated by people’s trained laziness is a “massive overreaction”. Literally nobody has been effected by any of these events (the cart returner or my post), and I’ve largely forgotten about it, but everyone seems to think I’m tracking this person down to beat them with a garden hose.

This is a community where we go to bitch about small things we find irritating. If you don’t want to see people complain about mundane things, why are we here?

This person took the cart where they were supposed to instead of leaving it out like too many people do. Let’s bring it down a notch.

Sorry sir. I made a “tsk” sound to myself in my car and shook my head when I saw it. How many notches do I need to bring it down?

Y’know what, you’re right. I’m an unhinged psychopath ready to snap. You can tell by the way I um ahh… typed out a few sentences to say I found something annoying.

Woah hey, your comment is complaining about my post. Please take it down a few notches, or something.

I mean that’s fine, I don’t really care if some randoms on the internet don’t like that I bitched about something small in the “bitch about something small” community. I just think it’s funny that everyone thinks I need to “calm down” when I’m literally just shooting the shit about something I saw.

But please, your notches are still way too high.

            One is fine. Thanks.

The second part of your comment, specifically, is where you surpassed reasonable notch levels.

They were probably getting some extra exercise. For some people, just increasing light activity is their opening strategy for getting fit.

Hey cut our friend some slack, it’s probably PTSD from covid. Gather round, grandpas gonna tell a story…

There was a time you see, when it was not allowed to return your cart at the store as they had to be cleaned, you had to return it at the corral with the other biohazards.

They say that out there in the masses, some are still mentally in lockdown.

Little did OP know that while they were watching this strange performance unfold, the other guy was sneaking up behind OP and stole their wallet.

My wife will do this when driving. She will drive the complete opposite direction from where we need to go and if I dare ask “Why are we driving AWAY from x?” she gets mad at me for pointing it out.

Distance travelled is not the only metric by which you can judge a route. Others include:

      • Traffic
      • Traffic lights or other stops, since it’s nicer to drive uninterrupted.
      • What turns you need to make (2 left turns over 6 lanes of traffic? Pass)
      • Familiarity
      • Road condition
      • The view

I had a school kid who only knew how to get home by following the bus route. Maybe it’s like that.

I don’t remember having an issue with this when I pushed carts, but it was a long time ago and I suspect if I saw someone do this I would have pouted about it.
